Pre-Course

Online Laser Safety

Complete laser safety learning before attendance — NHS evidence or an approved alternative module. Evidence submitted via the learner portal.

Day 1

Live Theory Teaching

Interactive live session via Teams or Zoom covering laser physics, tissue interactions, clinical applications, patient assessment and safety.

Day 2

Hands-On Practical

Supervised clinical training at the clinic. Learners treat real patients (training models) across all three laser platforms.

Course Modules

Seven structured modules covering theory, safety and clinical practice

Introduction to Laser Practice

Role of lasers in medical and aesthetic practice, ablative vs non-ablative systems, professional responsibility, scope of practice, and when not to treat.

Laser Physics & Tissue Interaction

Wavelength, fluence, pulse duration, selective photothermolysis, thermal relaxation time, chromophores (water, oxyhaemoglobin, melanin, tattoo pigment) and treatment endpoints.

Skin Anatomy & Fitzpatrick Typing

Skin structure, Fitzpatrick skin types I–VI, pigmentation risks, scarring risk, sun exposure, skin preparation and aftercare compliance.

Consultation & Patient Assessment

Medical history, medication review, contraindications, keloid tendency, pregnancy considerations, patch testing, consent and treatment planning.

CO₂ Laser

Ablative and fractional resurfacing, perioral/periorbital treatment, scar treatment, acne scarring, benign lesion removal, plume management and wound care.

06

Pulsed Dye Laser

Vascular targeting, capillary malformations, port-wine stains, rosacea, telangiectasia, purpuric and non-purpuric endpoints, cooling and skin type considerations.

07

Q-Switched Laser

Tattoo removal, pigmented lesion removal, solar lentigo, carbon peel, photoacoustic effect, ink fragmentation and pigment targeting.
